Have the codes read at a local auto parts store. Car is 7 years old, it's going to start needing things now and then.

The manual tells you how to reset the Service Engine Light which reminds you that regular maintenance is needed. However, if you serviced the car recently, there may be a code stored in the computer not related to normal maintenance. Read the manual and see if the Service Engine light also works as the Check Engine for computer codes or if the car has both. If the Service Engine light is just for normal maintenance, then simply follow the owner's manual instructions to reset it. If you do not have the manual, go on line and you will find videos that show you how to do it. Hope you can solve the problem.

Whenever your CEL (check engine light) comes on, its always best to insert a cheap OBD2 Scanner in your car's OBD port and run a scan to see exactly what your car is trying to tell you is wrong. This port is usually located directly under your steering wheel / dash, close to the footwell. You can purchase a Scanner cheap ($20-$40) which will quickly pay for itself over the life of your car (here is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W0SDLRY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00? ie=UTF8&psc=1). Scanners like this usually require you to download an App to your phone where you can sync the Scanner and read your codes easily from your phone. If you go to a service center, they will probably charge you their usual minimum "diagnostic charge", which is usually around $100. Alternatively, you can drive to your local AutoZone or AdvanceAutoParts and they will run a FREE one-time scan for you there, too. Hope this helps!
