My cavalier automatic transmission with over drive cable is hooked up not broken bribe works but when I put it in reverse it locks up car will not move can not push it . 2 Answers

All gears work but reverse cable is hooked up shifter is not broken . Reverse will choke the motor down . Shifter to transmission works just fine . Fluid is rite . Can you help
