Does a 2006 honda crv have a timing belt or chain and when should it be changed ?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am confused about the chain/belt terminology.  I do regular maintenance and don't want to have major damage done to the engine if the chain/belt needs to be serviced !!

It does have a chain, and having it break is exceedingly rare. Source:http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/19-maintenance-service/13244-when-replace-timing-belt-chain.html The timing chain (or belt, whatever the case may be) is the chain from the crankshaft to the camshaft(s) to operate the valves, open/close as they should. Relax 212vermillion, Belts do break. Chains, not so much, as in 1/100 of the time (a very non-scientfic statement, I know of no such studies have been done on that

Chain, and it’s recommended to change every 100k Miles. Better than a belt because it’s harder to break.
