2002 Galant Idles low and cuts off

Asked by JerseyGuy2 Oct 13, 2012 at 10:22 PM about the Mitsubishi Galant

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant that will cut off ater driving it a few miles.  The RPM will drop out, then nothing.  It will start up right away afterwards, but I have to pat the gas for a few minutes until it begins to idle normally.  The Check Engine Light does not come on when this happens.  Took it to a local mechanic and they state that no codes came up on the diagnostic.  Strange, because it doesn't do this all the time...only on occasion.  Any ideas as to the problem will be appreciated!
