there's about 9 different characteristics, like scott said, look at the engine, pending the year, that will tell it all.

It doesn't matter if the engine is correct if the whole car isn't check the vin.... then check other components. duuur

or go to the bmw dealership and they will scan the vin and lic plates and that will give all the information you need

The exhaust is a tell tale sign. Just look under the rear valance for two actual pipes. The body and interior trim will help too.

Line up next to any other sedan and roast them. That oughtta do it.

Go to: www.realoem.com. Type in the last 7 of the VIN. Done.

Look at the engine, if the engine for M5 then it is M5. You can check the vin but it will cost u few $ and if you do check the vin, first check if all the vins on the car match. There 17 digits and numbers and placed I believe on 5 or 6 majours parts of the car.

All BMW M-cars vin starts with WBS... All other BMW cars vin starts with WBA.

also the driver door sticker will say M on it the engine is going to be the biggest thing along with the Sport/M button.
