My 2005 Grand Marquis headlights will shut off while driving or not come on at all

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2005 Grand Marquis headlights don't always work. Sometimes they will come on when you start the car but while driving they will go out. Sometimes they will not come on at all. All of the fuses are good. There is an automatic light switch or it can be done manually. Headlights will not work in either position. If I use the remote starter (after market) they will come on. Once you shut the car down, however, they will not come back on. Can you help diagnose this problem please?

Mine had this problem too. It's a huge problem with this model that Ford hadn't done anything about until recently. Ford has an extended warranty they issued for the lighting control module (LCM) which controls the lights. If you contact a reputable Ford dealer with a sevice center and provide your VIN number, they should be able to pull it up in their system. The warranty covers a period 15 years or 250,000 miles.whichever comes first. The program is specifically the Customer Satisfaction Program 14N01. Ford customer service # is 1-866-436-7332 for more information.
