What is the intermittent thumping or drumming sound coming from engine.

Asked by Mikev51 Apr 29, 2014 at 06:10 AM about the Ford Ranger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had the t-stat on my 2009 Ford Ranger replaced at the dealer and a few days later I started getting a intermittent single thump or drum sound at idle. I cannot determine the exact location. It happens about every 2 or 3 minutes. Any suggestions? Thanks. Mike

remove serpentine belt and see if noise goes away...maybe they let something loose when doing the job
