My 2002 Mazda Miata starts when I turn the key over, runs for a few seconds and then stops.  What could cause that

A long-shot, but check for obstructions in the exhaust. Even a clogged cat usually allows the car to run, just not accelerate. Also check that it's getting fuel. Could be a bad fuel pump, or one that clogged internally? These are just two suggestions though. There are many other possibilities.
