The truck upshifts and down shifts inapropriately and now will not go more than 35 miles an hour. We think that it may be a sensor. Please advize

No one is going to be able to help with this information Year would help / engine / transmission type / Pre or post computer controls ???

    I Arced or crossed the "lighter" wires and fuel pump stopped. Fuse is good. But do not know how to check fuel pump relay.
