4x4 lights flashing

Asked by Skyjon Jan 27, 2011 at 04:48 AM about the Mitsubishi Pajero

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello everyone. I have seen this problem in other posts but not too many solutions posted. The 4x4 indicator lights are flashing even with the lever in 2H. One post indicted that this is most likely a switch in the gearbox. Any other input?

Thanks.

The actuator is probably gummed up with dirt and grease. This can be fixed simply by getting under the vehicle and cleaning the area out with a pressure washer. This happens when 4x4 is rarely used, especially on dirt roads not necessarily requiring 4x4. The best way to prevent this from happening is to always put your vehicle in 4HI whenever you go on dirt roads to keep the actuator operating freely.

check your transmission support and replace if worn out. it helps to maintain the actuator aligned and in mechanical contact with the 4-wheel drive switch during 4-wheel drive setting..
