I am looking at a 2001 GMC Sierra Denali C3 to buy and I would like to know what the C3 stands for.

It's the first year of the 3rd Generation of the Sierra The Corvette also has C2, C3, C4, C5

I personally own one. I love it. It's a Full Sized AWD pickup truck powerhouse with a 6 liter vortec. It eats sports cars for breakfast.
