1971 Ford Galaxie 500

Asked by GuruF48F7 Apr 12, 2020 at 07:46 AM about the Ford Galaxie

Question type: Car Customization

I have 1971 Ford Galaxie with a 400 engine and automatic transmission.  I
want to put a 460 with a 4 speed.  Will the 460 bolt up to the existing motor

1 Answer

Ford has two blocks, Windsor & Cleveland, but they use the same motor mounts. The 460 should be a bolt-in. But the transmission might use different mounts. You need to measure the 400 and the 460 to see if everything is aligned. There could be a difference in the fan/shroud and you might have to make adjustments for that.
