Hard shift with acceleration

Asked by Crzyguy101 Jul 21, 2019 at 09:48 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Once in a while I get a hard shift when accelerating
but have no check engine light or any dash
warning lights on. Any ideas or at least a good
place to start.

Hard shifts can be a few things, one is the shift solenoids are sticking and will need replacing, the other is the transmission is about ready to give up, a good transmission shop can plug in and run stand alone tests to see if it is just solenoids or if it is deeper and more expensive.
