Mog Test- catalyst not ready

I have a 2002 Chevy Tracker that needs a smog test I took it in and during pre check it said" catalyst not ready" the tester said to drive it on freeway for 12 miles, but when I returned it still said catalyst not ready. The car had not been driven for several months, and had a dead battery  (which I recharged) I have driven the car many times in the past  2 weeks  prior to smog test
