Slipping gears in drive,1,2 in my 2008 uplander

My van started acting up in drive the no
drive ,1,2,3 worked then they didn't now
only reverse works? Any ideas, I hope
it's not too expensive?

inspect the shift cable in the engine bay for freying & tightness.
