nissan pulsar engine/tranny replacement

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 87 nissan pulsar nx with a bad motor and the synchros on the transmission are going out. i'm wondering if i can dump both of them and replace them with different ones. my question is are there any engine/transmission combos that would fit in the stock mounts or will i need new mounts? it doesn't seem like i'll be able to find a stock engine and tranny so a compatible alternative would be the best bet if there is such a thing.
