Spark Plug Wires

Asked by LarryNN Dec 15, 2012 at 06:08 PM about the 1973 Volkswagen Beetle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 1973 Super Beetle and want to do a tune up on it. I ordered Bosch plugs and wires, but the
wires don't fit over the plug unless I spin off the cap and use the threaded part. The opening in the wire
seems too small to fit over the cap. Is this a correct wire or do I need to order something else?

That is correct...the Bosch wires will clasp the threaded portion of the spark plug where the "cap" once was. It's always seemed to work well for my VWs.

Bosch is what I run on my 64 Bug. Just make sure you get the ends all the way down on the plug. It will kinda snap into place when they are all the way down.

Larry, VWs need care and dedication. Please consider getting a good maintenance manual. Here's another good book to consider: http://www.amazon.com/Keep-Volkswagen-Alive-Step-Step/dp/1566913101
