Interesting! My wife purchased a 1981 wagoneer to restore. After three months of doing some fixing and upgrading I decided to see how the FWD worked. I succeded by placing the transmission in nuetral and with my foot on the brake (just did) and pulled back. It worked. First tries sounded like I was grinding geers. So Monday I am going to call the Jeep mechanic in town.

Hello Jeep world. I have recently been fortunate enough to acquire a 1977 Jeep Cherokee Cheif S from the original owner with 39k original miles. No rust other than the normal fender give away where the debris would get stuck. The paint is sunshine yellow. A truly amazing find and I’m so stoked to get it to a perfect rating. So my question : so the original owner has the hubs added on the quadratrc when he bought it. So when I lock the hubs and engage the low reduction lever to place to wheels in four wheel drive. It won’t engage, I have the service and owners manuals. So there is clearly something I’m over looking. As I am very familiar with classic cars. I just can’t seem to put my finger on it. Any info quality info would really help. Thank you Jeep world
