Coolant and radiator

Asked by Tiffany Jan 07, 2020 at 10:52 AM about the 2007 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: General

if I'm driving and the thermostat goes almost
passed the halfway mark and all the sudden goes
back to the middle to normal what does that mean
should I change or add some coolant to it since the
temperature has changed here it's gotten colder
the radiator cap is not hot or it doesn't smell like
it's overheated either

It should be ok. As temperature goes up, cooling temperature sensor sees it and turns on cooling fans, after temperature drops back, cooling fans turn off and that's why u see the temperature swings. Just make sure it doesn't go too hot, if it does then u need to check cooling system.
