Brand new transmission, but won’t shift past 2nd

Asked by PZieseniss Oct 27, 2019 at 03:18 PM about the 1999 Dodge RAM 2500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought and installed a brand new automatic
transmission into my 1999 Dodge Ram 2500. This
is the 3rd transmission, I thought that a brand new
Unmodified transmission would fix it. But I test
drove it, and I can’t get it to shift past 2nd. I’ve
checked the linkage and a few other things. But I
can’t seem to get it to shift right. Any ideas?

I plan on calling them and asking. But if this is my 3rd transmission, and all three have had the same problem, then wouldn’t it be something else? I’d like to try to explore other options before using the warranty.
