See my reply to your other question. I have not seen production numbers broken down that far especially since there was a fire at one of the GM plants in '68 or '69 which destroyed a lot of records related to the time period.

I thought the SS only had V-8 options. I remember a lot of old geezers in their 30's having the dealer pull the 427s and dropping in a 6 cylinder because it scared them to hit over 100 mph. The car codes and vin will tell you the factory engine. You may not have a true SS, just badges put on, that was popular also at the time. The SS's has special interior for the SS production only.

I drove a 3 on the tree '65 Impala. It was a 6 cylinder, too. Straight block.

Talk about space! You could house a nest of birds and a handful of cats up in those wheel wells. Easiest motor access in all history of my car experiences.

No 60s ss cars came with an 6 cylinder. If they're badged that would have been added by an owner. the only 6 cylinder SS cars that were ever done were in the 99-08 time period. But they are considered non collectible by hot rodders

My Dad retired from the Air Force in 1965. He went to the nearby Chevy dealership and bought a brand new 1965 Chevy Impala SS Cherry Red with three on the tree and a 6 cylinder engine! It is the car I learned to drive with! As soon as he got that car we went on a family vacation to Colorado. The car couldn’t make it up Pikes Peak. We made it halfway and he turned around and drive back down. He didn’t add the SS emblems to it. It was on the showroom floor! I doubt that the dealer put SS emblems on it! It came straight from the manufacturer that way! It was a beauty but no power at all!
