trying to find out if the 1985 Toyota 4runner came equipped with 3rd row seating or if 3rd row seating was available for that year as an option.

No, I had an '85 4Runner, and the way they were constructed, there was no room even to add a 3rd row seat. There was a roll bar and plastic removable top, but no 3rd row seat.
