Question type: Maintenance & Repair

99 2.2 Toyota Camry Knocking noise, goes away when rpms are higher and oil
smells like gas. looks like the back side of the engine is cover is oil like a bad
gasket, however, no piles of oil under the car. stalls when coming to a stop. I
thought at first before the noise started that it was the Crankshaft position
sensor. then it started losing power and making the noise?

The smell of Gas in the oil is not a good sign. Suggest you drain the oil and replace with fresh oil......include an oil filter change ? Check the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Pull the rubber vacuum line off same and smell that hose. If its wet with fuel or smells like gas...the FPR is bad. Get back with results.

Up Date!!! 1999 toyota camry codes p0300, p0302, p0401, p04202 p0136 oil didnt smell like gas.
