When does it need to be changed and how much?

90k - depends on who you go to and you should replace the water pump at the same time and since you'll have the fan shroud and radiator out of the way while your in there.

Actually the manual says five year or 90k miles whichever is first.remember this a belt not a chain.Rubber does deteriorate.
