2004 CR-V Thumping from Left Front Wheel Area

Asked by chrisb2go Apr 08, 2018 at 06:52 PM about the 2004 Honda CR-V

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 CR-V has recently started making a thumping noise when I get up to 30-
40MPH, and gets worse as I go faster. It seems to die down when I apply the brakes, and
comes back after I let them off and continue driving for a few seconds. The vibration can
be felt through the steering wheel and brake pedal, and seems to align with the rotation
speed of the wheels. I recently found the front left caliper had locked up as well, but this
is still occurring even after I freed the caliper. Any idea what this could be?

Probably a warped rotor from the caliper being seized.l would also check the hat of the rotor to see if there is build up around the hub not allowing the rim to sit flat on the rotor.it will be a white Chalke build up where the hub and rotor meet.

I had a similar problem and my thumping noise would got away if I applied brake. Turns out the the driver side rear brake had a caliber not put on correctly and was making the brake pad wriggle around . Tighten it up and problem solved !!
