i have a honda crv 1999 recently serviced the engine i.e changed oil and filters but still noticed that the maintenance required indicator on the dashboard is still red,whatcould be the problem

Did you read the code(s) to see if they are something other then the oil change you stated was just completed ? Go to a dealership or auto parts store and see if they can read any new codes or just clear the code for you.
