When i back up my 2007 equinox I feel sputtering in the gas pedal, does anyone know what this could be?

Asked by Kandace Nov 20, 2014 at 11:18 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my engine light was flickering on and off then the car misfired twice. Then it started no problem. I went to work and hours later I warmed the car up, the engine light was on and when I backed up it made a sputtering noise. When I went forward it made the same noise and I can feel it in the gas pedal. Does anyone know what it could be.?

really hard to diagnose a sound when you cant hear it, go to autozone and have the computer scanned for codes, that will give you a place to start.

Mike is right. Also check the throttle plate (butterfly) they can get dirty and not close all the way. Clean it with carb cleaner. I've done this at least a dozen times to equinox and Pontiac torrents. Works almost every time.

OK I'll try that.. thanks, it's a loud sound like sputtering ..and when I press on the gas it gets louder and louder especially while I'm driving

Could be an exhaust leak? How many miles on it? When was the last time it had a tune up?

It's has 128,469 miles.. I've only had it a 6 months so I'm sure it needs a tuneup.. it misfires sometimes, and smokes out of the exaust

Yup time for a tune up. Spark plugs(ac/delco), plug wires, fuel filter, air filter(if needed) cabin filter(if needed)
