The information center is locked on my Malibu

Question type: General

How do I fix the information center on my car?  Nothing shows.  No time, No radio information, nothing.
Just the word LOCKED.  Why did this happen?

Most likely the battery was disconnected. There may be a code and the info on how to reset it in the owners manual. If you can't find it you will have to take it to the dealer and have them reset it.

I went to have the oil changed today and they told me something like that also. I will call the dealership and see what's next. Thanks for the info.

You can stick around and see if anyone else has input on the subject. I have a feeling that a code may be involved. Dies it ever ask for a code?

It just has the word LOCKED in the panel screen. In the owners manual it says something about the letters/numbers in the vin number. It did not quit and the battery hasn't been unhooked at all. I was at a mall and I think someone tried to get in and it locked automatically. Looks like the whole car would shut down, if that were the case. I'll let you know what happens when I get with the dealership. Thanks

I called the service dep. and the service manager told me that it is an anti theft deterrent system built into the radio. Apparently someone did try to get into my car. LOL, It is a 2007, nothing worth stealing in it. Just a basic, fm radio with cd player. Absolutely nothing fancy or special. I have to take the car in to have it hooked up to a computer system and reset the radio, which will cost about $35.00. Which is shocking. I figured I would have to pay at least $150.00.

UPDATE! I drove my car around for about 3 weeks waiting for an opportunity to take it to the Chevy place. One day I got in and started it up and it was back to normal. The radio was not locked anymore. Everything works fine. I just figured after I started my car several times the computer in it realized that the radio was still there. LOL!

i had a 2006 Malibu and the computer would lock up have a lock on the dash I tried doing the waiting ten minutes 3 times in a row and all that kind of stuff and did it exactly how I was supposed to it didn't work. then a neighbor came over unhooked the positive cable of the battery and not from the battery from the other end of the cable he left it off for about 20 seconds put it back on then my car started as normal. thank god for him because nowhere online does it say to do this.

The ten minute process is for the security system, it's an Amber light on the dash that just says security.

The radio saying locked is usually from the radio losing power while the bcm stays powered could happen for various reasons but won't effect the engine running.

My car has lock me out completely no lights, nothing and I need my car it is a 2011 Chevy Malibu. I dont know what to do I disconnected the battery and hooked it back up and still nothing.Does anyone have any ideas?

2006 maibu LTZ. when i hit pot holes radio "resets" and sometimes locks. i have CD changer full but when i hit eject it says no disc. i punched my horn once, road rage, and airbag light came on. went to dealer, he said punch it again to turn it off. i did and it worked, but it still comes on quite often.

my 2017 Malibu dash and music just went out for 3 second. what do you think what happen? It have done this one time before. I got my car last year in May

The only thing I did was to remove the fuse for the radio, waited about ten seconds and placed it back in, then started my car. 2016 chevy Malibu
