We have an 07 Chevy Impala with a crack rim and
a bent rim. The rims that are on there are 17" but
we have the chance to get a set of four 16" free.
Will the 16" work or not?

If they are the same lug pattern and have the proper offset to clear the brake calipers, then yes but make sure you get the correct tires or you will have to recalibrate the speedometer, a good tire store can help you with the correct diameter and width.
