how do you open the hood?

There's a release lever under the dash next to the driver's door. Then, there's a release tab under the front center of the hood.

If you've pulled the hood release under the dash and it's not popping up an inch or so, it might be stuck. Have a friend hold the release latch open while you push on the hood or stick a nylon spatula in the body joints to try and wedge it loose.
