1971 Chevelle front coil springs

Question type: General

Hi, I removed the front coil springs to replace the upper and lower control arms on a 71 chevelle. I tried to take note of how everything was installed but didn't with the coil springs. One end is flat and closed and the other is an open coil. Does the flat end go on top or bottom? Please help if you can, I'm having a hard time finding any good info. Some sites I've checked saytop and others say bottom?? Thanks, Dale
