i dont have exact numbers, but i think it was somewhere around 4200, fell free to correct me anyone because that is a very rough number off my memory

Naturally, it depended on accessory group, HP options, etc.. but a real close ballpark would be $4500 to $5000

1970 CHEVELLE BASE COUPE $2719, SUPER SPORT OPTION $503.45, 396/375 $210.95, 454/LS6 $263.30, M21$184.80, AND M22 & (OR) 400 TURBO WERE BOTH $221.80

the 396 SS was around $4300 the 454 was around $5000.

I had a 1970 SS Chevelle with Cow Induction, my engine was 1 of a 100 engines produced that year, a 402 CI classified 396 CI with 375 HP. I believe I paid around $5,600.00 new.

1970 396/325 SS Automatic air conditioning bucket seats power windows cowl induction hood med blue with white stripes 3900.00 plus tax in Alabama. Total 4005.00 The 454 LS6 option at the time was approx, 300.00.
