only happened sometimes and only when i would turn a corner or back out of a parking space. mech said it was the boot replaced it $500 but when i went out of parking space it was still there. then they told me it was my awd and now i only have front wheel drive what is the problem??? otherwise runs great.I want my awd back.

great mechanics! A boot! yeah that's brilliant ! How about the vicious center diffentrial to allow for needed slippage on turns and don't like different size tires on straight away,s that makes it work hard and burn out!

sounds more like the rear diff then, front vs rear wheels are gonna turn at the same speed while you turn, it's side to side where the speeds differ and if it is driving fwd now that points to the rear diff being where the issue lies. I had the same issue in the front diff of my 93 Legacy at one point, was stuck with rwd durring winter, turned out I'd stripped the splines on my axel shaft where it joins the hub and it was losing all it's fwd power out that hub. I replaced the shaft and the hub and all was good. have the axel shafts in the rear checked to make sure the splines are intact, inspect the rear diff and the hubs too.
