2001 pontiac sunfire

I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire that has recently started giving me a problem. The car was running perfect, new battery, but one day I started it and the engine light was on and it is shaking terribly. I had the alternator checked and it was still good, I also replaced the sparkplugs and wires and that didn't make any difference. Has anyone had this problem or have any new ideas on how to correct it? Thanks.....Jen

Have you check your coil? That is what the issue was when my moms sunfire did this.
