well i put gas in it and it showed the amount it should have and then back to
empty but still ran good ... when i got home i figured taking the battery cables
loose for a bit would streinghten it out but after i put them back on .. it will start
and withen moments it shuts back off.. i know it has gas and it will start over
and over but keeps shutting off

Try "re-learning" the ignition key. By turning the key to the on position and leaving it there for 10 to 20 minutes. Then turn the key to off, then start the car. Varoom! Happy trails.
