what is the difference between a manual transmission in a 1992 nissan stanza se and a manual transmission in a 1996 nissan altima

Two entirely different vehicles. I would say with 95% certainty that the newer trans will NOT work in your Stanza. You could try calling a junkyard or someone with a Hollander Interchange Manual to check for sure.
