2019 Pilot tailgate warning sound

Asked by GuruC2PSJ Mar 05, 2019 at 08:25 PM about the 2019 Honda Pilot

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How do I disable or lower the awful warning beep of the tailgate?  My dog
refuses to go anywhere near the car now and I'm embarrassed whenever I
have to use it.  Seriously thinking of only using the side doors and that would
suck.....I simply hate the sound.  Wish I had known, I wouldn't have bought the
car and it's only two weeks old!  :(

Just bought one on Saturday and couldn't agree more. Love the vehicle but that damn alarm drives me crazy . I looked all over the net and could not find a answer to disable but did find others were able to locate where the sound came from and muffle it so its not as loud.

Simple, when the tailgate is open just click the latch on the tailgate shut using a screw driver. The gate then thinks it's closed and stops beeping.
