Any one have problem with brakes?

My rav4 brakes were squeaking with
only 11,000 miles.  Mechanic stated
“left front brake pads were wearing
uneven” and “the sliding pens were
not sliding as designed”.

If the " mechanic " went so far as to diagnose the problem then why didn't he fix it ?
