2002 mercury sable ignition problem

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced blown ignition 40 amp fuse , car starts ,
starter won't disengage , engine still runs even
after key is turned off and removed . Can this be
caused by a bad ignition module ? Starter tested
good at auto store . Had to remove battery cable to
kill engine . Same problem occurred 4 times in a
row .
