How many were sold ?

I have an  Performance edition which added $17,500 to the price. Trying to
decide if i should keep it at lease end. BMW considers the number of these sold
as a state secret.

If it is a secret, how would we know? Try contacting BMW corporate and maybe they will be able to tell you. If you are wondering due to maybe the car being worth more or maintaining it's value in the future, that is too far out yet in time. M series BMW's are always sought after due to the performance. But depending on the model, it could cause a cult following, but usually after 15 years or more. If you like driving the M2, and can't find anything else you like to purchase, buy it out to enjoy a few or more years.
