White smoke is a sign you are burning coolant. Is the white smoke from the engine bay or tailpipe? I'd perform a cylinder pressure test to determine if in fact you have a head gasket issue. Then consider if you want to put some serious cash into the Van replacing them if you are having someone else complete the work.
