Asked by Denise Feb 26, 2016 at 09:35 PM about the 2000 Mazda MPV

Question type: General

I had my mazda fixed with front and back brakes,
alternator changed, new battery, belt changed, four
new tires, and when i start the car it sounds like a
horn noise, when I trun the wheel, it makes the
same noise plus i get a rubber burn smell after
driving and park the car, what can I do to fix this
problem, I've already spent enough money fixing
this car, I'm at wits end

It sounds like you need to add power steering fluid. It could be bad, have a leak, and/or need a new belt, but often topping off the fluid will fix the problem.

Thank you, i will go to auto zone tomorrow, but what about that smell of burnt rubber after I drive the car and park??

When the power steering pump is low on fluid it creates more friction on the pulley, causing the belt to slip and friction rub/burn. Good luck : )
