This is 5 years to late for her ... It could be helpful to others today that have this same problem. I have a mazda 2002 Nov van ... My oil light kept coming on when I stopped, went away when I accelerated. The oil icon on your dash includes water, oil and transmission fluid. Overtime parts wear out inside your radiator, coolant leaks form and continue getting worse till corrected or is that replaced? In my case coolant is now mixing with transmission fluid ... from my radiator. I ordered a new one tonight online ... Im pretty sure this will fix the problem. In the future ... should your oil icon come on ... check all fluids not just oil. Check oil Check water Check transmission fluid oil and water are ok start checking hoses, look for physical signs underneath car with,a flashlight if needed, check engine area under hood, use pressure guages to help locate the problem. Unless its a bad sensor in icon ... always pay immediate attention and locate the problem soon as possible. Coolant leaks can leak overtime till fixed or it breaks like mine did.
