Mazda 2003 overdrive or transmission?

I have a Mazda 2003 the overdrive is
flashing on and off it the overdrive or the
transmission? Can somebody please tell me
it runs great but want change gears when it's
in drive. Is that the overdrive button or the
transmission?  Tell me what I need to do or
change I shave to have this car for work.
