Mazda Tribute 2004 compressor

Asked by Ausmods Jul 15, 2016 at 06:16 PM about the 2004 Mazda Tribute

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had my tribute serviced and about two weeks later
the air compressor came off its fittings. Repairer
said it looked like the compressor had been
sheared off as the bolts were still in the slots ie it
wasn't the bolts loosening through vibration or the
like. Repairer said it was nothing he did during
logbook service that would cause that - what could
cause Ac compressor to be ripped off its mountings
- no accidents or impacts involved and did 2 long
trips between service and problem

Things (AC compressors) just break after 12 years AC compression might have seized and just sheered off. Unless he charged the AC system way overcharged it.... Too much refrigerant. If a less-than-qualified person works on your air conditioner and inadvertently adds too much refrigerant, or even the wrong type of refrigerant, it can be a deadly mistake for the compressor. Two long trips rule this out.
