I have a 1971 C10 truck. The motor sounds smooth but when I shift it into gear it doesn't want to take off and go very well. Happens even when I shift to other gears.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have just purchased this truck and I know very little of its history. The truck starts
easily on the first crank and sounds very smooth when idleing. It has a three speed on
the column that shifts fairly smooth. When the truck idles it does not smoke from but after
it is driven a few miles there is a white smoke that begins to start coming from the tail
pipe.
