A dirty air filter will rob you of at least ten % of fuel economy and can cause hard starting up to no starting. The least expensive best medicine for a vehicle is change the oil every three thousand miles or if you do not drive three thousand miles a year then do it every six months. The power steering whines when first started and smooths out when warm, this is a nature of a FORD problem so do not sweat it. I have found that the transmissions require extra care so I service mine before summer and before winter and ask around first to a person you know is a car nut and find a reputable shop to service it. Overdrive normally is the gear that goes out in the transmission around 100,000 miles. When you have the transmission rebuilt have the shop install a shift kit they cost a little and save a lot. Transmission repairs with all the hard parts, cases, new converter, overhaul kit, shift kit, and labor should not exceed $1600.00 and that is a high estimate. They maintain just like a full size FORD and are easy on the pocket book and hey I even bought one for my Mother.

I have the special edition mark 7 1990 lsc is that when the car is cold it rides nice but when it gets warm it rides horrible I think is a transmission he gets too hot so you have to put the transmission cooling system its a box that goes from the radiator hoses goes into the transmission and cools it down. Because if you don't when you press the gas you hear the valves and usually that means that your engine is getting hot but also means that the transmission is hot so it doesn't shift for the overdrive does not kick in. It rides slushie and the car loses power and if anybody else think something else please let me know thank you
