2017 Dodge grand Caravan cylinder two and three misfire
I’m having a problem with my 2017 Dodge grand
caravan, I have a cylinder two and three misfire I’ve
taken it to two different mechanics and one said
that it needed a new head and the other said it
needed a new engine the one that said it needed a
new engine did some work to the vehicle and it ran
great smooth and no light for two days and then it
started Running rough again and when we brought
it back he said it needed a new engine so I don’t
understand why the car ran great for two days with
no problems because if it was a problem with the
engine I don’t think it would run with no problems
for two days. can you help me?
My 2014 Grand Caravan did same thing, except it was #2 & #5 misfires. Dealer told me same... needed a new head. Local Mechanic changed spark plugs and the vehicle ran as designed. Try replacing the plugs with the platinum long wear plugs. Cost about $20 a piece but much better than a new head!
Cylinder 2 misfire also and had all plugs and #2 coil replaced but only helped for 50 miles. Just had it inspected and confirmed it was the bad head design and head was pitted. Mechanic said Chrysler/Dodge have extended their warranty to 150,000 miles so you should be able to drop into a dealer and get them dealt with if this is the issue. If so, please pass it on to whoever you can
GuruMF4GJ: We have same problem with 2013. Local dealer where we purchased Caravan says car is no longer under warranty and won't do the repair. Can you recommend who I can contact to have dealer honor that 150K warranty mentioned above? Our caravan has less than 30K miles!
https://www.mopar.com/en- us/search/results.html? search=Cylinder%20caravan&searchType=site Try here first and try the EMAIL US link, I spent hours looking around the site and found something hidden but that was a while ago. Send your VIN and ask about the issue and also https://www.mopar.com/en-ca/my- vehicle/recalls/search.html and somewhere I found more reliable is https://www.nhtsa.gov/ I will look into my emails with Mopar and Dodge dealers later
