what is the towing capacity of a 4.0 v6 w/automatic
What is the towing capacity of a 1994 Ranger with a 4.0 liter engine?
Hello, Standard towing capacity was 2360 lbs, while maximum capacity was 5760 lbs. Best of luck! CarGrrl
We just had a flood in my home town of Cedar Rapids Iowa and I used my 1994 ford ranger, 4.0ohv, standard cab with the 6ft bed to pull my 8'x5' lawn mower trailer. I loaded the aluminum trailer up to a total weight of about 2.5-3.5 tons each load for four days, we made 107 loads all acrossed town in the first three days, it will pull it if you know what your doing. Some tips for you are 1. Try to avoid stopping on hills 2. Don't ride the brakes going down hills 3. Put weight of some form in the bed of your truck so you can stop without sliding 4. Watch all your gauges (especially the oil pressure and engine temperature) 5. Don't go fast at all, take it slow off the start and keep it at a steady RPM until you don't accelerate anymore, then slowly increase your RPM's 6. Always be aware of what others around you are doing, they will be going much faster than you most likely 7. Always be preparred to stop, let off the gas and be prepared to stop whenever coming up on a stale green light, if you start to slide then use your breaks as a pulse 8. When I pulled that much weight I found that if i went at least 5mph under the speed limit then it was much easier to stop and keep the truck stable 9. Don't overload your truck to much 10. When parking on a slope come to a complete stop and hold your foot on the brake, then set the PARKING brake before the park in the transmission (this way your gears in the transmission don't get binded up) after your parking brake has been set you can put the transmission in park but let off the brake pedal slowly in case your parking brake fails These are the basics when it comes to towing a trailer that exceeds your rates towing capacity, if you follow these then you should have absolutely no problem with your truck during or afterwards, just remember to be safe and don't get excited or nervous behind the wheel
What's the maximum towing weight for a ford ranger 2002 4.0
Towing has a few factors. Manufacture ratings is priority. Vehicles vary even within a specific model line. It is not a one size fits all. No matter your towing capacity towing loads exceeding 3000lb requires some form of braking device on the trailer. The tow vehicles weight and length play huge roles in towing braking and stability. Most Factory tow pachages include additional cooling measures for both engine and transmissions. Final drive gear ratios’s play the largest role in a vehicles towing capacity within a product line. A silverado with a 3.08 rear end has substantially less towing capacity then a Silverado with a 3.42 or 3.73 rear end even when equipt with the exact same motor and transmission combo. Adding a hitch to a vehicle does not qualify the vehicle to be a safe tow vehicle. When you ignore manufacture specifications and you are involved in an accident. You open yourself to not having your own insurance cover you, you also open yourself to civil liability. Tow what your vehicle is rated for using trailer brakes over 3000lb. If you need a vehicle with a greater capacity. Rent one.
