Need help identifying part

Asked by Christopher Apr 18, 2017 at 07:32 PM about the 1999 Lexus ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1999 Lexus ES300 failed smog test
because the guy thinks the glue on this
part makes it look like the part has been
modified. It passed all the other tests. Told
me I have to replace the part with the
arrow but doesn't know what it's called.
And he didn't care that it has passed smog
checks for years and we never touched
that part. I don't know how to find the part
if I don't know what its called!

That is probably the air cleaner box. Do you live in the land of fruits and nuts? Smog inspectors there are terrified of the state smog Nazi's so they won't pass anything unless it is perfect.

It's a air box, going to your throttle body. The air box should have a little nipple where this air line mark with the arrow should go(probably broken).
